Chery A15. Manual — part 224

Three. Engine nameplate
The engine serial number is located on
the lower cylinder body of the intake
manifold.

Four. Transmission belt
1. Location of the transmission belt

1-Engine
2-Water pump/power steering pump
3-Compressor
4-Idle wheel
5-Crank shaft
6-Tensioner

2. Unfixing and replacing the
transmission belt
It is important to adjust the tension of the
transmission belt in the case of
replacement or adjustment of engine
transmission belt. Overtension of the
transmission belt will result in damaged
AC generator and wheel bearing of the
power steering pump belt while
undertension will result in skidding or
early abrasion.
Reel the transmission belt on the belt
wheel in a proper manner for
replacement. Notice the reeling path of
the transmission belt before its
replacement.
1) Insert the tie-in of a pair of quick
spanners into the belt tensioner.

2) Apply a torque of 98N (221bf) onto
the middle of the belt tensioner until it
caves in for 9.0 -11.5mm (0.35-0.45in).
3) Press down the quick spanner in a
reverse direction, release the tensioner
and take out the old transmission belt.
4) Pay attention to the belt’s reeling
direction during fixing, press down the
quick spanner in a reverse direction and
fix the transmission belt.

5) Release the tensioner and check if the
belt is properly located.

Note: Adjustment method for the
alignment of the transmission belt and
tensioner assembly.
- Turn the engine crank shaft’s belt
wheel with a pair of spanners for over
one round.
- Observe the alignment of the
transmission belt and tensioner assembly.
If the center of transmission belt goes
beyond the center of the tensioner
assembly, unfix the latter and insert
gasket to adjust.
