CIRCUIT

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

The ABS motor relay supplies power to the ABS pump motor. While the ABS is activated, the ECU switches
the motor relay ON and operates the ABS pump motor.

Condition 1. or 2. continues for 0.2 sec. or more:

1. ECU terminal IG1 voltage is 9.5 V to 18.5 V, and when

motor relay is ON in the midst of initial check or in op-

eration of ABS control.*

2. Motor relay is ON driving in the midst of initial check or

in operation of ABS control, ECU terminal IG1 voltage

becomes 9.5 V or less.*

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
Start the inspection from step 1 in case of using the hand-held tester and start from step 2 in case of not
using hand-held tester.

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER(ABS MOTOR RELAY
OPERATION)

(a)

Select the item ”ABS MOT RELAY” in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS motor relay on the hand-
held tester.

(b)

Check the operation sound of the ABS motor relay when operating it with the hand-held tester.
OK: The operation sound of the pump motor should be heard.

OK

Go to step 4

CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE(ABS MOTOR RELAY 5 TERMINAL OF ABS R/B)

(a)

Remove the ABS motor relay from ABS R/B.

(b)

Measure voltage between terminal 5 of ABS R/B (for ABS
motor relay) and body ground.
OK: 10 - 14 V

INSPECT ABS MOTER RELAY

(a)

Check continuity between each terminal of ABS motor
relay.
OK:

Terminals 1 and 2

(b)

Apply battery positive voltage between terminals 1 and 2.

(c)

Check continuity between terminals 3 and 5 of ABS motor
relay.
OK:
