LUBRICATION
SERVICE INTERVALS
Transaxle
Under normal driving conditions, replace fluid at 120,000 miles (192,000 km) intervals or every 6 years, then
every 90,000 miles (144,000 km) or 5 years. Under severe driving conditions, change fluid at 60,000 miles
(96,000 km) or 3 years, then every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years.
CHECKING FLUID LEVELS
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
2. Park the vehicle on level ground. Turn off the engine.
3. Remove the dipstick (Yellow loop) (A) from the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) dipstick guide
pipe, and wipe it with a clean cloth. See Fig. 3 .
4. Insert the dipstick aligning the cap (B) with the guide tap (C).
5. Remove the dipstick (A) and check the fluid level. It should be between the upper mark (B) and lower
mark (C). See Fig. 4 .
6. If the level is below the lower mark, check for fluid leaks at the transaxle, hose and line joints, and cooler
lines. If the level is an excess, drain the ATF to proper level. Pour the recommended fluid into the
opening (A) of the dipstick guide pipe to bring it to upper mark. See RECOMMENDED FLUID . See
Fig. 5 .
7. Install the ATF filler bolt (B) with a new sealing washer (C). See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
8. Insert the dipstick back into the dipstick guide pipe with aligning the cap with the guide tab on the guide
pipe.
NOTE:
NOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transaxle.
