5. Check for continuity between the appropriate
terminals of navigation unit connector A (20P) to
navigation display connector A (20P) based on the
missing color(s).

Go to step 6.
There is an open in the circuit between the
navigation display and the navigation unit. Check
for poor connections or loose terminals at the
display and navigation units. If a poor connection
or loose terminal is found, replace the affected
shielded harness.
6. Check for continuity between the appropriate
terminals of navigation unit connector A (20P) and
navigation display connector A (20P) based on the
missing color(s).

There is a short to body ground in the circuit
between the navigation display and the navigation
unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
Replace the navigation unit. If the problem is
still unresolved, replace the navigation display.

1. Check for electronic aftermarket accessories
(possibly hidden) mounted near the navigation
display or the navigation unit.
Disable the accessories, and recheck.
Go to step 2.
2. Start the vehicle and observe the navigation picture.
Check for an open or short to ground in the C
SIG wire from navigation unit connector A (20P)
terminal No. 12 to navigation display connector A
(20P) terminal No. 19. Also check for a short to
ground between navigation display connector A
(20P) terminal No. 19 and terminal No. 20.
Go to step 3.

test under Monitor Check (see page 23-122).
Do the troubleshooting for the picture is
missing a color or tone or is an odd color (see page
23-101).
Go to step 4.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II) and observe the
navigation picture.
Check for sources of electrical noise, such as
poor battery connection, alternator, defective
battery, aftermarket accessories or cell phone, poor
pin fits at the display or control unit.
Go to step 5.
5. Substitute a known-good navigation display, and
recheck.
Replace the navigation display.
Replace the navigation unit (see page 23-139).

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Go to step 2.

displayed (see page 23-100).
2. Try several navigation buttons and touch screen
buttons.
The system is OK at this time.
• If all navigation hard buttons and touch screen
• If only some navigation buttons operate normally,
while others do not, go into the Diagnostic mode
and use Touch Panel diagnostic under Monitor
Check (see page 23-122) and if necessary, Hard
Key diagnostic under Unit Check (see page
23-124).
3. Try to load and play a CD in the CD changer.
Go to step 9.

4. Do the forced starting of the display (see page
23-138).
Check the operation of the navigation screen,
press Return. Then press Monitor Check. Then
press Touch Panel Check. If any the buttons on the
screen do not respond properly, replace the
navigation display.
• The display, 6CD, radio and the XM are RED: Go
to step 4.
• Only some of the links are RED: Go to step 9.
5. Remove the radio without disconnecting the
connectors.
6. Check for continuity between B9 and B10 of the
audio unit connector B (14P) and body ground.
Go to step 7.
Check all pin fits, and recheck operation. If the
circuit is OK, substitute a navigation control unit. If
there is no change, replace the navigation display
unit.

7. In this order, disconnect the connectors one at a
time until you no longer have continuity to ground.
• XM receiver A (14P) connector.
• Navigation control unit B (14P) connector.
• Navigation control unit A (20P) connector.
• Navigation display A (20P) connector.
• CD changer B (14P) connector.
• CD changer A (18P) connector.
• Audio unit B (14P) connector.
8. On the connector that you disconnected and lost
continuity, check for continuity to ground on each
terminal listed.
• Navigation control unit B2 and B8.
• Navigation control unit A10 and A20.
• Navigation display A3 and A13.
• CD changer A5 and A15.
Replace the shorted harness.
Replace the unit that is shorted to ground.
9. Check for continuity between the CD changer
connector B, navigation display connector A, and
navigation control unit connector A according to
the table.

Check all pin fits and recheck operation. If the
