STEP 13. Voltage measurement at the E-17 door
mirror assembly (LH) connector.

(1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(2) Rear window defogger switch: ON
(3) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the
wiring harness side.

(4) Voltage between E-17 door mirror assembly
connector terminal No.1 and body earth
OK: System voltage
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
The trouble can be an intermittent
malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to
use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service
Points

Malfunction ).
NO :
Go to Step 14.

Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint
connector C-08 <RH drive vehicles>, intermediate
connector C-133 and repair if necessary.
• Check the power supply line for open circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Go to Step 15.
NO :
Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 15. Retest the system.
Check that the heater element works normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
The trouble can be an intermittent
malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to
use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service
Points

NO :
Replace the door mirror assembly (LH).

CAUTION
The claw of the mirror is prone to breakage when
working in cold temperatures. Always warm up
the mirror claw and claw periphery to 20
°C or
higher before handling.
Slant the mirror upward with your hands. Then insert
a flat-tipped screwdriver wrapped with protective
tape between the pivot plate and mirror through the
cut-out from behind the mirror. Now pry off the mirror
claw and remove the mirror as shown.

1. Remove the mirror.
2. Release the claws of door mirror outer cover from
the door mirror assembly as shown in the
illustration.
NOTE: Because the claws A and B are not accessi-
ble, disengage the points C and D of the door mirror
actuator and release the claws.
3. Remove the cover from the door mirror assembly.

Install the door mirror body assembly with the nuts in
the numerical order as shown in the illustration.
