B1034 - INFRARED TEMPERATURE SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT LOW
For the Compass Temperature Module circuit diagram (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/OVERHEAD CONSOLE - SCHE-
MATIC - ELECTRICAL).
For a complete wiring diagram Refer to Section 8W.
•
When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
•
Set Condition:
The Compass Temperature Module detects a short to ground condition on the (C83) Infrared Sensor Sig-
nal circuit.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
(C83) INFRARED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
INFRARED TEMPERATURE SENSOR
COMPASS TEMPERATURE MODULE
Diagnostic Test
1.
TEST FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: B1034 - INFRARED TEMPERATURE
SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
>> Go To 2
No
>> The condition that caused this code to set is not present
at this time. Using the wiring diagram as a guide, inspect
the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
Operate the system several times and recheck for active
DTCs.
Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST-VER 1.

CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC B1034 - INFRARED TEMPERATURE
SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT LOW WITH INFRARED SENSOR
DISCONNECTED
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Infrared Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1034 - INFRARED TEMPERATURE
SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT LOW?
YES
>> Go To 3
NO
>> Replace the Infrared Temperature Sensor in accordance
with the Service Information.
Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST-VER 1.
3.
CHECK (C83) INFRARED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A
SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Compass Temperature Module harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the (C83) Infrared Sensor Signal cir-
cuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 10K ohms?
YES
>> Repair the (C83) Infrared Sensor Signal circuit for a short
to ground.
Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST-VER 1.
NO
>> Replace the Compass Temperature Module in accordance
with the Service Information.
