Symptom:
DECKLID RELEASE OUTPUT SHORT TO GROUND
When Monitored and Set Condition:
DECKLID RELEASE OUTPUT SHORT TO GROUND
When Monitored:
Whenever the BCM is awake.
Set Condition:
When the BCM turns on the Decklid Release Driver circuit and detects a
voltage of less than 0.5 volts for over 125 milliseconds, this code will set.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
DECKLID RELEASE SOLENOID
DECKLID RELEASE DRIVER WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
BODY CONTROL MODULE - DECKLID RELEASE DRIVER SHORTED
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, erase DTCs.
Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
Try to operate the Decklid Release several times.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display DECKLID RELEASE OUTPUT SHORT TO GROUND?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the code to set is not present at this
time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
wiring and connectors.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Decklid Release Solenoid.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, erase DTCs.
Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
Try to operate the Decklid Release several times.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display DECKLID RELEASE OUTPUT SHORT TO GROUND?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Replace the Decklid Release Solenoid.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Decklid Release Solenoid connector.
Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Decklid Release Driver circuit.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Decklid Release Driver circuit for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

DRIVER CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH OPEN OR SHORT TO VOLT-
AGE
When Monitored and Set Condition:
DRIVER CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH OPEN OR SHORT TO VOLTAGE
When Monitored:
At all times when battery power is supplied to the Body Control
Module.
Set Condition:
When the BCM senses voltage to the cylinder lock switch above 4.6 volts
for over 10 seconds.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
DRIVER DOOR SWITCH RETURN OPEN
DRIVER CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH MUX OPEN
CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH OPEN
DRIVER CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH MUX SHORT TO VOLTAGE
BODY CONTROL MODULE - DRIVER CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH MUX SHORT TO VOLTAGE

NOTE: When this code is present, the VTSS indicator will illuminate solid during the
arming process.
With the DRBIII
t, record and erase DTC’s.
Cycle the ignition switch from ON to OFF to ON.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTC’s.
Remove the key and operate the Driver Cylinder Lock Switch several times while
monitoring the DRBIII
t.
Wait 10 seconds.
Does the DRBIII
t display DRIVER CYLINDER UNLOCK SWITCH OPEN/SHORT
TO VOLTAGE?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Driver Door Switch Return
circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch connector.
Measure the voltage between Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch Mux circuit and
ground.
Select the voltage present.
All
Below 4.0 volts.
Repair the Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch Mux circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Between 4.1 volts and 5.2 volts.
Replace the Cylinder Unlock Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Above 5.3 volts.

Disconnect the Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch connector.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Turn the ignition on.
Turn the park lamps on.
Measure the voltage between Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch Mux circuit and
ground.
Is there any voltage present?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch Mux circuit for a short
to voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
