Symptom:
LOW BEAM RELAY COIL SHORT TO VOLTAGE
POSSIBLE CAUSES
INTERMITTENT CONDITION

ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, clear the current Body Control Module DTC’s.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on.
Turn the Low Beams ON.
With the DRBIII
t, read the current Body Control Module DTC’s.
Does the DRBIII
t display: Low Beam Relay Coil Shorted to Voltage?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present.
Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent
condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Headlamp Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Substitute the original Headlamp Relay with a known good relay.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, clear the current Body Control Module DTCs.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Turn the Low Beam Headlamps ON.
With the DRBIII
t, read the current Body Control Module DTC’s.
Does the DRBIII
t display: Low Beam Relay Coil Shorted to Voltage?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Replace the original Headlamp Relay.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Remove the Headlamp Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Turn the ignition On.
Measure the voltage of the Headlamp Relay Control circuit at the relay.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Headlamp Relay Control circuit for a short to voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
PARK LAMP OUTPUT SHORT
When Monitored and Set Condition:
PARK LAMP OUTPUT SHORT
When Monitored:
Output is ON to OFF transition.
Set Condition:
When Output is ON to OFF transition and voltage is detected low at
output for 10 seconds.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, clear all BCM DTC’s.
Turn the Park Lamps ON.
With the DRBIII
t, read the DTC information.
Does the DRBIII
t read: Park Lamp Output Short?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present.
Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition.
Look for any chafed, pierced,pinched, or partially broken wires.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Park Lamp harness connector.
Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the Park Lamp Output circuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 100.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Park Lamp Output circuit for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Park Lamp harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Turn the park Lamps on.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Park Lamp Output circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Replace the applicable Park Lamp.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
REAR FOG RELAY OPEN/SHORT TO GROUND (EXPORT ONLY)
When Monitored and Set Condition:
REAR FOG RELAY OPEN/SHORT TO GROUND (EXPORT ONLY)
When Monitored:
With the Ignition On.
Set Condition:
This DTC will set if the BCM detects a lack of voltage on the Rear Fog
Lamp Relay Control circuit.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
FAULTY REAR FOG LAMP RELAY
OPEN B(+) CIRCUIT
OPEN EXPORT ACCESSORY FUSE
OPEN FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT
OPEN REAR FOG LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT
REAR FOG LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

With the DRBIII
t, record and erase DTC’s.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTC’s.
Attempt to operate the Rear Fog Lamps while monitoring the DRBIII
t.
Does the DRBIII
t display REAR FOG LAMP RELAY OPEN/SHORT TO GROUND?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused this DTC to set is currently not present.
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
related wiring harness and connectors for a possible intermittent
condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition OFF.
Remove the Export Accessory Fuse holder from the fuse cover.
Inspect the Export Accessory Fuse.
Is the Export Accessory Fuse blown?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Export Accessory Fuse. Inspect the circuit for a
possible failure that would cause a blown fuse.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

With the ignition OFF.
With the Export Accessory Fuse installed in the fuse holder.
Measure the voltage at the B(+) circuit of the Export Accessory Fuse.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 4
No
→ Repair the open B (+) circuit between the Export Accessory Fuse
and the PDC.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the ignition OFF.
Remove the Exhaust Relay from the relay socket.
Measure the voltage of the Fused B(+) circuit at the relay socket.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 5
No
→ Repair the Fused B(+) circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the ignition OFF.
With the Rear Fog Lamp Relay disconnected.
Measure the coil side resistance of the Rear Fog Lamp Relay.
Is the resistance between 85.0 and 106.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Go To 6
No
→ Replace the Rear Fog Lamp Relay.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the ignition OFF.
With the Rear Fog Lamp Relay disconnected.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C4 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Rear Fog Lamp Relay Control
circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Rear Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit for a short to
ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 7

With the ignition OFF.
With the Rear Fog Lamp Relay disconnected.
Measure the resistance of the Rear Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit between the Rear
Fog Lamp Relay and the BCM.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Rear Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
