Symptom:
REAR FOG RELAY SHORT TO BATTERY (EXPORT ONLY)
When Monitored and Set Condition:
REAR FOG RELAY SHORT TO BATTERY (EXPORT ONLY)
When Monitored:
With the Ignition On.
Set Condition:
This DTC will set if the BCM senses an over current condition on the Rear
Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
FAULTY REAR FOG LAMP RELAY
REAR FOG LAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
BODY CONTROL MODULE
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
With the DRBIII
t, record and erase DTC’s.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTC’s.
Attempt to operate the Rear Fog Lamps while monitoring the DRBIII
t.
Does the DRBIII
t display REAR FOG RELAY SHORT TO BATTERY?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused this DTC to set is currently not present.
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
related wiring harness and connectors for a possible intermittent
condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition OFF.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C4 connector.
Disconnect the Rear Fog Lamp Relay.
Turn the ignition ON.
Measure the voltage between ground and the Rear Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit.
Is the voltage above 5.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Rear Fog Lamp Relay Control circuit for a short to
voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

With the ignition OFF.
Measure the coil side resistance of the Rear Fog Lamp Relay.
Is the resistance between 85.0 and 106.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Rear Fog Lamp Relay.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, clear all BCM DTC’s.
Turn the Fog Lamps on.
With the DRBIII
t, read the DTC information.
Does the DRBIII
t read: Right Fog Lamp Output Open?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present.
Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition.
Look for any chafed, pierced,pinched, or partially broken wires.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 harness connector.
Disconnect the Right Fog Lamp.
Measure the resistance of the Right Fog Lamp Output Circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Right Fog Lamp Output Circuit.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, clear all BCM DTC’s.
Turn the Fog Lamps on.
With the DRBIII
t, read the DTC information.
Does the DRBIII
t read: Right Fog Lamp Output Shorted?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present.
Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition.
Look for any chafed, pierced,pinched, or partially broken wires.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Remove and install a known good Fog Lamp in place of the Right Fog Lamp.
Does the Right Fog Lamp operate normally?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Fog Lamp.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Right Fog Lamp.
Measure the voltage of the Right Fog Lamp Output circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 1.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Right Fog Lamp Output circuit for a short condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Symptom:
RIGHT HIGH BEAM OUTPUT OPEN
When Monitored and Set Condition:
RIGHT HIGH BEAM OUTPUT OPEN
When Monitored:
Output is ON to OFF transition.
Set Condition:
When Output is ON to OFF transition and voltage is detected low at
output for greater then 50 micros seconds.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
RIGHT HIGH BEAM OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
RIGHT HEADLAMP

ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, clear all BCM DTC’s.
Turn the headlamps on.
Switch the headlamps between high beam and low beam several times, pausing for
5 seconds in each position.
With the DRB, read DTC’s.
Does the DRBIII
t read: Right High Beam Output Open?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present.
Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition.
Look for any chafed, pierced,pinched, or partially broken wires.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Right Headlamp harness connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Ground circuit.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to
that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Repair the Ground circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
