(13) Disconnect the brake lamp switch. (Fig. 3)
(14) Disconnect the pedal servo electrical connec-
tor.
(15) Disconnect left side instrument panel electri-
cal connectors ground wires. (Fig. 4)
(16) Remove ground wire nuts at left floor tunnel.
(Fig. 5)
(17) Remove one bolt and one nut to the left brace
to instrument panel (Fig. 6).
(18) Remove two retaining bolts to instrument
panel at steering column opening. (Fig. 7)
(19) Remove one screw to left A-pillar trim and
using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry off and
remove trim from vehicle.

(20) Using a trim stick (special tool #C-4755) or
equivalent, gently pry up on left instrument panel
speaker grille and remove grille from vehicle.
(21) Disconnect electrical connector at left A-piller.
(22) Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry
up on the right sill plate and remove sill plate from
vehicle.
(23) Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry
out on right cowl kick panel and remove panel from
vehicle.
(24) Reach up underneath the instrument panel
and disconnect the passenger airbag electrical con-
nector.
(25) Disconnect the three right side electrical con-
nectors and one ground bolt. (Fig. 8)
(26) Remove
the
right
side
instrument
panel
retaining bolts.
(27) Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry
off A-pillar trim and remove trim from vehicle.
(28) Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry
up on right instrument panel speaker grille and
remove grille from vehicle.
(29) Disconnect the radio antenna connector. (Fig.
9)
(30) Remove four screws and disconnect electrical
connectors to radio and remove from vehicle.
(31) Disconnect the occupant restraint controller
ground wires.
(32) Disconnect the two occupant restraint control-
ler electrical connectors.
(33) Remove the wiper module. (Refer to 8 - ELEC-
TRICAL/WIPERS/WASHERS/WIPER
MODULE
-
REMOVAL)
(34) Remove four screws to the HVAC exterior
intake plenum and remove from vehicle.
(35) Remove two bolts and one nut and ground
wire at the wiper cowl.
(36) Remove ten nuts to instrument panel in
engine compartment (Fig. 10).
(37) With the help of an assistant, carefully
remove instrument panel and place on bench.

(1) With the help of an assistant, carefully place
the instrument panel in place inside of vehicle.
(2) Connect the white electrical connector along
the right side above the location of the right side
grounds.
(3) Position the panel assembly onto the front of
dash panel and install the ten nuts to instrument
panel studs in engine compartment.
(4) Tighten the nuts to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.).
(5) Install two bolts and one nut and ground wire
at the wiper cowl.
(6) Place HVAC exterior intake plenum into place
and install four screws.
(7) Install the wiper module. (Refer to 8 - ELEC-
TRICAL/WIPERS/WASHERS/WIPER
MODULE
-
INSTALLATION)
(8) Connect the two occupant restraint controller
electrical connectors.
(9) Connect
the
occupant
restraint
controller
ground wires.
(10) Connect electrical connectors to radio and
install radio and four retaining screws.
(11) Connect the radio antenna connector to the
windshield.
(12) Place right instrument panel speaker grille
into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into
place.
(13) Place A-pillar trim into position over retaining
slots and firmly snap into place.
(14) Install the right side instrument panel retain-
ing bolts and tighten to 12 N·m (9 ft. lbs.).
(15) Connect the three right side electrical connec-
tors and one ground bolt.
(16) Reach up underneath the instrument panel
and connect the passenger airbag electrical connec-
tor.
(17) Place right cowl kick panel over retaining
slots and firmly snap into place.
(18) Place right sill plate into position over retain-
ing slots and firmly snap into place.
(19) Connect electrical connector at left A-piller.
(20) Place left instrument panel speaker grille into
position over retaining slots and firmly snap into
place.
(21) Place left A-pillar trim into position over
retaining slots and firmly snap into place. Install one
retaining screw.
(22) Install two retaining bolts to instrument
panel at steering column opening and tighten to 12
N·m (9 ft. lbs.).
(23) Install one bolt and one nut to the left brace
to instrument panel and tighten to 28 N·m (21 ft.
lbs.).
(24) Install ground wire nuts at left floor tunnel.
(25) Connect five left side instrument panel electri-
cal connectors.
(26) Connect the pedal servo electrical connector.

CAUTION: The brake lamp switch can only be
adjusted once. That is during initial installation of
the switch. If the switch is not adjusted properly or
has been removed for some service, a new switch
must be installed and adjusted.
(27) Connect the brake lamp switch electrical con-
nector.
CAUTION: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate
during installation. If the wheel is rotated it could
damage the clock spring within the steering col-
umn.
(28) Place steering column into position, install
four steering column retaining nuts.
(29) Tighten steering column pinch bolt.
(30) Connect five steering column electrical con-
nectors.
(31) Install two screws to upper and lower steering
column shrouds.
(32) Install the steering column opening cover.
(Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/STEER-
ING COLUMN OPENING COVER - INSTALLA-
TION)
(33) Place left cowl kick panel into position over
retaining slots and firmly snap into place. Install one
screw and two push pins.
(34) Place the left sill plate into position over the
retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
(35) Connect one electrical connector on cluster
bezel, place in position over retaining slots and
firmly snap into place.
(36) Install the cluster bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/
INSTRUMENT
PANEL/CLUSTER
BEZEL
-
INSTALLATION)
(37) Connect the battery negative cable.
(38) Place battery access cover into place and
install four bolts.
(39) Verify vehicle and system operation.
INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER/
PAD
REMOVAL
WARNING: Follow all Warnings for airbag compo-
nent
service
(Refer
to
8
-
ELECTRICAL/RE-
STRAINTS - WARNING).
(1) Open deck lid.
(2) Remove four bolts to battery compartment
cover and remove cover.
(3) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative
cable.
(4) Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve
capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag
system or instrument panel component service.
(5) Remove the instrument panel. (Refer to 23 -
BODY/INSTRUMENT
PANEL/INSTRUMENT
PANEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVAL)
(6) Remove four screws and two electrical connec-
tors to the instrument cluster and remove from
panel.
(7) Remove five screws and two electrical connec-
tors to the instrument cluster gauge pack and
remove from panel.
(8) Remove two screws and one electrical connector
to remote keyless entry module and remove from
panel.
(9) Remove two screws and one electrical connector
to low tire pressure module and remove from panel.
(10) Remove the right lower instrument panel
trim. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/
INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM - REMOVAL)
(11) Remove twelve screws, two bolts, and one
electrical connector to instrument panel cover/pad
and remove from instrument panel reinforcement.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: Follow all Warnings for airbag compo-
nent
service
(Refer
to

ELECTRICAL/RE-
STRAINTS - WARNING).
(1) Place instrument panel cover/pad into position
and install twelve screws, two bolts, and one electri-
cal connector to instrument panel cover/pad.
(2) Install the right lower instrument panel trim.
(Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/IN-
STRUMENT
PANEL
RIGHT
LOWER
TRIM
-
INSTALLATION)
(3) Install two screws and one electrical connector
to low tire pressure module.
(4) Install two screws and one electrical connector
to remote keyless entry module.
(5) Install five screws and two electrical connectors
to the instrument cluster gauge pack.
(6) Install four screws and two electrical connec-
tors to the instrument cluster.
(7) Install the instrument panel. (Refer to 23 -
BODY/INSTRUMENT
PANEL/INSTRUMENT
PANEL ASSEMBLY - INSTALLATION)
(8) Connect the battery negative cable.
(9) Place battery access cover into place and install
four bolts.
(10) Verify vehicle and system operation.
