Removing and installing plenum cham‐

ber covers

Note

The removal and installation procedures for the plenum chamber

covers may have to be modified slightly depending on model var‐

iants.

wiper system .

– Pull off entire length of seal -4- from plenum chamber covers

-1- and -2-.

Caution

The windscreen -7- could be destroyed. Do NOT use a tool

(screwdriver, wedge) to lever off the plenum chamber covers

-1- and -2-. If you do, the windscreen -7- will be damaged and

may subsequently crack.

– Lift plenum chamber covers -1- and -2- at edge of windscreen

-7- with your hands.

– Pull plenum chamber covers -1- and -2-, starting from edge of

windscreen -7-, upwards out of windscreen seal -6-.

between windscreen and wing.

– Remove bracket for washer jets lines from right plenum cham‐

ber cover -1-.

– Remove right plenum chamber cover -1- from vehicle towards

front, taking care not to damage horn between windscreen and

wing.

Installing

Caution

The windscreen -7- could be destroyed.
Banging plenum chamber covers -1- and -2- into the wind‐

screen seal -6- may cause the windscreen -7- to crack.

3. Plenum chamber cover

An insert is installed in windscreen seal of new windscreens. Remove this insert before installing plenum

chamber cover.

Push the plenum chamber cover into the windscreen seal by hand using only slight force. Never force it in

by hitting or or using tools.

Carry out following work:
– Spray windscreen seal -6- with a soapy solution so that ple‐

num chamber covers -1- and -2- are easier to press in.

– Push horn of right plenum chamber cover -1- between wind‐

screen and wing.

– Make sure that the retaining clamps at side of right plenum

chamber cover -1- are correctly seated in the flat plate of the

upper cross beam.

– Position right plenum chamber covers -1- on windscreen seal

-6- and press it into windscreen seal -6-, beginning in the mid‐

dle and applying slight pressure.

– Mount the bracket for washer jets lines on right plenum cham‐

ber cover -1-.

– Push horn of left plenum chamber cover -2- between wind‐

screen and wing.

– Ensure here also that side retaining clamps on left plenum

chamber cover -2- are correctly seated in flat plate of upper

cross member.

– Position left plenum chamber covers -2- on windscreen seal

-6- and press it into windscreen seal -6-, beginning in the mid‐

dle and applying slight pressure.

– Fit seal -3-.
– Install wiper arms ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 92 ; Wind‐

screen wiper system; Removing and installing windscreen

wiper system .
