This test is able to check warning lamp operation.
• BLUE ON: Key warning lamp (green) illuminates.
• RED ON: Key warning lamp (red) illuminates.
• KNOB ON: Lock warning lamp illuminates.
• BLUE IND: Key warning lamp (green) flashes.
• RED IND: Key warning lamp (red) flashes.
• KNOB IND: Lock warning lamp flashes.
• OFF
KEY LOCK SOLENOID

This test is able to check key interlock operation.
• LOCK: Key interlock is active.
• UNLOCK: Key interlock is inactive.

Description

CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time applications. It is an on-vehicle mul-
tiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Modern
vehicle is equipped with many electronic control unit, and each control unit shares information and links with
other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected
with 2 communication lines (CAN-H line, CAN-L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less
wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.

• Receiving (ECM)
• Receiving (METER/M&A)

Intelligent Key unit performs the ID verification with the steering lock unit and releases the steering lock if both
Intelligent Key unit and steering lock unit ID are same. Intelligent Key unit starts the communication with the
steering lock unit when Intelligent Key is carried into the vehicle and the ignition knob switch is pressed.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK STEERING LOCK SOLENOID POWER SUPPLY
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect steering lock solenoid connector.
3.
Check voltage between steering lock solenoid and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> GO TO 2.
NO
>> Repair or replace steering lock solenoid power supply
circuit.
2.
CHECK STEERING LOCK SOLENOID GROUND CIRCUIT
Check continuity between steering lock solenoid and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> GO TO 3.
NO
>> GO TO 6.
