INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

a. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

b. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

c. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

d. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

e. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

OK: DTC B1653 is not output.

HINT:

Codes other than DTC B1653 maybe output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG: Go to step 2

OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )

2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

NOTE:

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while
performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is
reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires
approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and
settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds
or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery
terminal.

b. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

c. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the seat position

airbag sensor.

OK: The connectors are properly connected.

NG: CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

OK: Go to next step

3. CHECK CONNECTORS

a. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the seat position airbag sensor.

b. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and seat position airbag sensor side) are

not damaged.

OK: The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG: REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

OK: Go to next step

4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR)

a. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

b. Turn the ignition switch ON.

c. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

d. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

e. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

f. Using a service wire, connect terminals 13 (DSP-) and 14 (DSP+) of connector B.

g. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

h. Disconnect the service wire from the connector B.

i. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG: REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

OK: Go to next step

5. CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT LH)

a. Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor and the seat position airbag sensor.

b. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

c. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

d. Clear the DTCs stored (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

e. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

f. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

g. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

OK: DTC B1653 is not output.

HINT:

Codes other than DTC B1653 maybe output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG: Go to step 6

OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )

6. REPLACE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT LH)

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

b. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

c. Replace the front seat inner belt LH (see FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY ).

HINT:

Perform inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.

7. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR

a. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

b. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

c. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

d. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

e. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

f. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
