DTC B1655/37: DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

DESCRIPTION

The seat belt buckle switch LH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and the front seat inner belt LH. DTC
B1655/37 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the seat belt buckle switch LH circuit.

When all conditions below are met:

The center airbag sensor receives a line short circuit
signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground
signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the seat belt buckle
switch LH circuit for 2 seconds.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

a. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

b. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

c. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

d. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

e. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

OK: DTC B1655 is not output.

HINT:

NOTE:

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while
performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is
reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires
approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and
settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds
or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery
terminal.

NG: Go to step 2

OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )

2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

b. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

c. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and front seat inner

belt LH.

OK: The connectors are properly connected.

NG: CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

OK: Go to next step

3. CHECK CONNECTORS

a. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the front seat inner belt LH.

b. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and front seat inner belt LH side) are

not damaged.

OK: The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG: REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

OK: Go to next step

4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT LH)

a. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

b. Turn the ignition switch ON.

c. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

d. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

e. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

f. Using a service wire, connect terminals 11 (DBE+) and 12 (DBE-) of connector B.

g. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

h. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

i. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
