test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

BR3: CHECK THE RCM SUPPLY CIRCUIT

Disconnect Fuse 2.

Measure the resistance between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 24, circuit CBP02A (GN), harness

side and fuse 2, harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit CBP02A (GN). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BS : DTC B1D74 12: PAD SWITCH ENABLE CIRCUIT SHORT
TO BATTERY

TEST CONDITIONS

BS1: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH ENABLE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY OR
IGNITION

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Ignition switch in position 0.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Disconnect PAD Switch C2R224-B.

Measure the voltage between the RCM C2R114-
A pin 18, circuit CR224A (GN), harness side and

ground.

Is any voltage present?
Yes

REPAIR circuit CR224A (GN). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BT : DTC B1D74 13: PAD SWITCH ENABLE CIRCUIT OPEN
CIRCUIT OR HIGH RESISTANCE

BT1: CHECK FOR CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE RCM AND THE PAD SWITCH

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

NOTE: CHECK that the PAD switch is in the air bag live position before carrying out this

test.

Ignition switch in position 0.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Disconnect PAD Switch C2R224-B.

Measure the resistance between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 18, circuit CR224A (GN), harness

side and the PAD switch C2R224-B pin 6, circuit
CR224A (GN), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit CR224A (GN). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BU : DTC B1D74 19: PAD SWITCH ENABLE CIRCUIT CROSS
LINK TO ANOTHER FIRING CIRCUIT

BU1: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH CIRCUITS

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Disconnect Inoperative Air Bag Module Simulator.

NOTE: Refer to the Wiring Diagrams for pin detail.

Measure the resistance between the RCM C2R114-A pin 18, circuit
CR224A (GN), harness side and the inoperative air bag module circuits.

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR the circuits. REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE
the system.

PINPOINT TEST BV : DTC B1D74 1A: PAD SWITCH ENABLE CIRCUIT
SHORT CIRCUIT

BV1: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Measure the resistance between the RCM C2R114-
A pin 18, circuit CR224A (GN), harness side and

the RCM C2R114-A pin 21, circuit CR225A (YE),
harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

REPAIR circuit CR224A (GN) and circuit CR225A
(YE). REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

GO to BV2

BV2: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH WIRING HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

Measure the resistance between the RCM C2R114-
A pin 18, circuit CR224A (GN), harness side and

ground.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit CR224A (GN). REPEAT the self-test,
CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BW : DTC B1D74 1E: PAD SWITCH ENABLE CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE OUT OF RANGE

BW1: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR CONTINUITY

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: CHECK that the PAD switch is in the air bag live position before carrying out this
test.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Measure the resistance between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 13, circuit RR129A (YE/GY),

harness side and the RCM C2R114-A pin 18,
circuit CR224A (GN), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

GO to BW2

BW2: CHECK FOR CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE RCM AND THE PAD SWITCH

Disconnect PAD Switch C2R224-B.

Measure the resistance between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 18, circuit CR224A (GN), harness

side and the PAD switch C2R224-B pin 6, circuit
CR224A (GN), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

GO to BW3

.

No

REPAIR circuit CR224A (GN). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

BW3: CHECK FOR CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE RCM AND THE PAD SWITCH COMMON
CIRCUIT

Measure the resistance between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 13, circuit RR129A (YE/GY),

harness side and the PAD switch C2R224-B pin 5,
circuit RR129C (YE/GY), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

INSTALL a new PAD switch.
REFER to:

Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD)

Switch

(501-20B Supplemental Restraint System,

Removal and Installation).
REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit RR129C (YE/GY). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BX : DTC B1D75 12: PAD SWITCH DISABLE CIRCUIT
