RCM C3R114 pin 10, circuit CR111A (BN/WH),
harness side and the passenger side air curtain
module C6R111 pin 1, circuit CR111A (BN/WH),
harness side.

Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit CR111A (BN/WH) or circuit RR111A
(YE/VT). REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BN : DTC B1129 19: PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN
CROSS LINK TO ANOTHER FIRING CIRCUIT

TEST CONDITIONS

BN1: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN CIRCUITS

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C3R114.

Disconnect Passenger Side Air Curtain Module Simulator.

Disconnect Inoperative Air Bag Module Simulator.

NOTE: Refer to the Wiring Diagrams for pin detail.

Measure the resistance between the:

RCM C3R114 pin 11, circuit 91S-JA51 (BK/BU), harness side and
the inoperative air bag module circuits.
RCM C3R114 pin 12, circuit CR111A (BN/WH), harness side and the
inoperative air bag module circuits.

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR the circuits. REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BO : DTC B1129 1A: PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN
CIRCUIT LOW RESISTANCE

BO1: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN MODULE CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Deactivate the SRS.

Ignition switch in position II.

Carry out the self-test with the simulators
installed.

Does the system prove out correctly?
Yes

GO to BO2

.

No

GO to BO3

.

BO2: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN MODULE SQUIB RESISTANCE

Connect the test and deployment lead to the
passenger side air curtain module.

Select DMM specific on the Ford approved
diagnostic tool.

Connect the test and deployment lead to the Ford
approved diagnostic tool.

3

Measure the resistance of the passenger side air
curtain module squib.

4

Is the resistance between 2 and 3 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

INSTALL a new passenger side air curtain module.
REFER to:

Side Air Curtain Module - VIN Plate

Body Style Code: S

(501-20B Supplemental

Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

BO3: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN WIRING HARNESS FOR LOW
RESISTANCE

Ignition switch in position 0.

Disconnect Passenger Side Air Curtain Module
Simulator.

Disconnect RCM C3R114.

Measure the resistance between the RCM C3R114,
pin 9, circuit RR111A (YE/VT), harness side and

the RCM C3R114 pin 10 circuit CR111A (BN/WH),
harness side.

4

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit CR111A (BN/WH) and circuit
RR111A (YE/VT). REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the

DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BP : DTC B1A55 12: EVENT NOTIFICATION SIGNAL
CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY

BP1: CHECK THE EVENT NOTIFICATION SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Ignition switch in position 0.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Disconnect CJB C1BP02-C.

Ignition switch in position II.

Measure the voltage between the RCM C2R114-
A pin 23, circuit CR115A (BN), harness side and

ground.

Is any voltage present?
Yes

REPAIR circuit CR115A (BN). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

PINPOINT TEST BQ : DTC B1A55 14: EVENT NOTIFICATION SIGNAL
CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

BQ1: CHECK THE EVENT NOTIFICATION SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Ignition switch in position 0.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Disconnect CJB C1BP02-C.

Measure the resistance between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 23, circuit CR115A (BN),

harness side and ground.

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.
REACTIVATE the system.

No

REPAIR circuit CR115A (BN). REPEAT the self-
test, CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the
system.

PINPOINT TEST BR : DTC B1B69 16: BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW

TEST CONDITIONS

BR1: CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE

NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

Ignition switch in position II.

Check the battery voltage with the ignition in
the ON position.

Is the battery voltage greater than 8 volts?
Yes

GO to BR2

.

No

CHECK the battery and charging system.
REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs.

BR2: CHECK THE RCM SUPPLY CIRCUIT

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Ignition switch in position 0.

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect RCM C2R114-A.

Ignition switch in position II.

Measure the voltage between the RCM
C2R114-A pin 24, circuit CBP02A (GN), harness

side.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes

GO to BR3

No

REPAIR circuit CBP02A (GN). REPEAT the self-
