13.ABS Operating Check
13.1 Checking wheel speed sensor output voltage
1. Check if air gap between wheel speed sensor and gear ring is within specification.
Front wheel gap specification:see front wheel speed sensor installing illustration.
Rear wheel gap specification:see rear wheel speed sensor installing illustration.
2. Jack wheel, loosen manual brake.
3. Remove ABS wiring harness and measure at wiring harness-connecting area.
4. Spin wheel at a speed of 1/2 per second and measure output voltage using volt-hmmeter or oscilloscope.
Left Front Wheel:terminal 2-1
Right Front Wheel:terminal 19-20
Left Rear Wheel:terminal 5-6
Right Rear Wheel:terminal 22-23
Output Voltage
Using volt-ohmmeter:
Front Wheel:: see front wheel speed sensor installing illustration.
Rear Wheel:: see rear wheel speed sensor installing illustration.
Using oscilloscpe:
Front Wheel: See related specification.
Rear Wheel: See related specification.
5. If output voltage is not within the specification, check following reasons:
* Big air gap between sensor and gear ring
* Sensor problem
* Sensor resistance (1.0-1.3kΩ)
* Measure air gap between gear ring and wheel speed sensor at 4 different points (deformed gear ring).
13.2 Checking Hydraulic Contrlled Unit (HCU)
1. Lift vehicle, ensure wheel can spin freely.
2. Loosen manual brake.
3. After connecting scan tool, turn ignition to ON position. Do not start engine at this time.
4. Seeing Hydraulic Controlled Unit Diagnostic, perform check.
Note: When connect or disconnect scan tool, ignition switich must be OFF position.
