Symptom:
PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH OPEN/SHORT TO VOLTAGE
When Monitored and Set Condition:
PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH OPEN/SHORT TO VOLTAGE
When Monitored:
Whenever the ignition is in the RUN or ACCESSORY position.
Set Condition:
When the BCM senses that the voltage on the Passenger Window Switch
Mux circuit is over 4.5 volts for longer than 31 milliseconds.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
SWITCH OPEN
PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN
PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN
PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH MUX WIRE SHORT TO VOLTAGE

ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, erase DTCs.
Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
Try to operate the Passenger Window Motor by using the Passenger Window Switch.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH OPEN/SHORT TO
VOLTAGE??
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the code to set is not present at this
time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
wiring and connectors.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Passenger Window Switch Return
circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
No
→ Go To 3
Yes
→ Go To 4

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Passenger Window Switch Return circuit between the
Switch connector and the BCM C4 connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Passenger Window Switch Return circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between Passenger Switch Mux circuit and ground.
Select the voltage measured.
All
Between 4.8 and 5.2 volts.
Replace the Window Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Below 4.7.volts.
Above 5.3 volts.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Disconnect the BCM C3 harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Passenger Switch Mux circuit between the Switch
connector and the BCM C3 connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Passenger Window Switch Mux circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Disconnect the BCM C3 harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between the Passenger Switch Mux circuit and ground.
Is there any voltage present?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Passenger Window Switch Mux circuit for a short to
voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH SHORT TO GROUND
When Monitored and Set Condition:
PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH SHORT TO GROUND
When Monitored:
Whenever the ignition is in the RUN or ACCESSORY position.
Set Condition:
When the BCM senses that the voltage on the Passenger Window Switch
Mux circuit is less than 0.69 volts for longer than 10 seconds.

PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH MUX WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
BODY CONTROL MODULE - PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT SHORTED

APPLICABILITY

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, erase DTCs.

Operate the Passenger Window Motor.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH SHORTED TO
GROUND?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ The condition that caused the code to set is not present at this
time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the
wiring and connectors.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage between Passenger Switch Mux circuit and ground.
Is the voltage approximately 5.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Window Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
Disconnect the BCM C3 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Passenger Switch Mux circuit.
Is the resistance below 10000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Passenger Window Switch Mux circuit for a short to
ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
