REMOVAL - H-PIPE EXTENSION PIPES
NOTE: This procedure applies to the removal of
either the left or right H-pipe extension pipe.
(1) Remove the rear extension belly pan (Refer to
23 - BODY/EXTERIOR/BELLY PAN - REMOVAL).
(2) Apply penetrating oil to the extension pipe-to-
H-pipe band clamp, and to the extension pipe-to-aux-
iliary resonator band clamp (Fig. 17).
(3) Loosen the band clamps and remove the exten-
sion pipe.
INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION - H-PIPE
NOTE: Do not tighten the band clamps until all of
the exhaust connections are in place.
(1) Position the H-pipe in its mounting position
(Fig. 16).
(2) Connect the H-pipe to the left and right
diverter pipes. Loosely install the band clamps.
CAUTION: Before installing the rear extension belly
pan, inspect the H-pipe and make sure the pipe
does not extend below the subframe. If the H-pipe
extends too low, damage to the exhaust or belly
pan may occur. Adjust as necessary.
(3) Install the H-pipe extension pipes (Refer to 11 -
EXHAUST SYSTEM/H-PIPE - INSTALLATION).
(4) Tighten all band clamps to 54 N·m (40 ft. lbs.).
(5) Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks.
Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
(6) Check the exhaust system for contact with the
body panels. Make any necessary adjustments, if
needed.
INSTALLATION - H-PIPE EXTENSION PIPES
NOTE: This procedure applies to the installation of
either the left or right H-pipe extension pipe.
NOTE: Do not tighten the band clamps until all of
the exhaust connections are in place.
(1) Position the extension pipe to the H-pipe.
Loosely secure the band clamp (Fig. 17).
(2) Position the extension pipe to the auxiliary res-
onator, and loosely secure the band clamp.
(3) Tighten the band clamps to 54 N·m (40 ft. lbs.).
(4) Install the rear extension belly pan (Refer to 23
- BODY/EXTERIOR/BELLY PAN - REMOVAL).
(5) Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks.
Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
(6) Check the exhaust system for contact with the
body panels. Make any necessary adjustments, if
needed.

REMOVAL - DIVERTER PIPE
NOTE: This procedure covers removal of either the
right OR left diverter pipe. Remove the appropriate
parts for the side that is being worked on.
(1) Remove the H-pipe (Refer to 11 - EXHAUST
SYSTEM/H-PIPE - REMOVAL).
(2) Disconnect the vacuum line from the exhaust
diverter valve.
(3) Loosen the diverter pipe-to-spout assembly
band clamp (Fig. 18).
(4) Separate the diverter pipe from the spout
assembly, and remove the diverter pipe.
INSTALLATION - DIVERTER PIPE
NOTE: This procedure covers installation of either
the right OR left diverter pipe. Install the appropri-
ate parts for the side that is being worked on.
NOTE: Do not tighten the band clamps until all of
the exhaust connections are in place.
(1) Connect the diverter pipe to the spout assem-
bly (Fig. 18). Loosely install the band clamp.
(2) Connect the vacuum line to the diverter valve.
(3) Install the H-pipe (Refer to 11 - EXHAUST
SYSTEM/H-PIPE - INSTALLATION).
(4) Tighten all band clamps to 54 N·m (40 ft. lbs.).
(5) Install the rear extension belly pan (Refer to 23
- BODY/EXTERIOR/BELLY PAN - REMOVAL).
(6) Start the engine and inspect for exhaust or
vacuum leaks. Repair any leaks as necessary.
(7) Check the exhaust system for contact with the
body panels. Make any necessary adjustments, if
needed.

NOTE: The upper left hanger can be accessed
through the rear fascia.
(1) Remove the upper left hanger bolts (Fig. 19).
(2) Slide the muffler out of the hanger, and remove
the hanger from the vehicle.
REMOVAL - AUXILIARY RESONATOR - LOWER
LEFT HANGER
(1) Remove the auxiliary resonator (Refer to 11 -
EXHAUST SYSTEM/RESONATOR - REMOVAL).
(2) Remove the nuts and the auxiliary resonator
lower left hanger (Fig. 20).
INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION - AUXILIARY RESONATOR -
UPPER LEFT
(1) Slide the upper left hanger onto the muffler.
(2) Position the hanger, and install the bolts (Fig.
19). Tighten to 28 N·m (28 in. lbs.).
(3) Inspect for any interference between the reso-
nator and the body, and adjust as necessary.
INSTALLATION - AUXILIARY RESONATOR -
LOWER LEFT HANGER
(1) Position the hanger and install the nuts (Fig.
20). Tighten to 28 N·m (250 in. lbs.).
(2) Install the auxiliary resonator (Refer to 11 -
EXHAUST
SYSTEM/RESONATOR
-

TION).

EXHAUST SOLENOID -
EXPORT
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect the negative battery cable.
(2) Disconnect the exhaust solenoid electrical con-
nector.
(3) Disconnect the inlet and outlet vacuum hoses
at the solenoid.
(4) Remove the retaining screw and remove the
solenoid from the bracket (Fig. 21).
INSTALLATION
(1) Position the exhaust solenoid on the bracket
and install the screw.
(2) Connect the inlet and outlet vacuum hoses to
the solenoid.
(3) Connect the exhaust solenoid electrical connec-
tor.
(4) Connective the negative battery cable.
(5) Start the engine and inspect for vacuum leaks.
Repair any leaks as necessary.
