*DRIVER WINDOW INOPERATIVE
POSSIBLE CAUSES

TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t, erase DTCs.
Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Are there any POWER WINDOW related trouble codes present?
All
Yes
→ Refer to symptom list for problems related to POWER WIN-
DOWS.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 2

Gain access to and disconnect the Driver Power Window Motor connector
Turn the ignition on.
Using a 12-volt test light connect one end to the Driver Window Down Driver and the
other end to the Driver Window Up Driver in the harness connector.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the DRV WINDOW DN and then the DRV WINDOW UP.
Did the test light illuminate brightly when the window motor was actuated in both
directions?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Power Window Motor.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

Gain access to and disconnect the Driver Power Window Motor connector
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Driver Window Up Driver
circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the DRV WINDOW UP.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the DRV WINDOW UP circuit is
actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 4
No
→ Go To 6

Gain access to and disconnect the Driver Power Window Motor connector
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Driver Window Down Driver
circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the DRV WINDOW DN..
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the DRV WINDOW DN circuit is
actuated?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 5

Gain access to and disconnect the Driver Power Window Motor connector
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Window Down Driver circuit between the BCM
C2 connector and the Window Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Driver Window Down Driver circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Gain access to and disconnect the Driver Power Window Motor connector
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Window Up Driver circuit between the BCM C2
connector and the Window Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Driver Window Up Driver circuit for an open.

Listen or feel the Passenger Window Up Relay (located under the dash just above the
steering column).
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the PASS WINDOW UP.
Do you hear or can you feel the relay clicking?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Go To 14

Gain access to and disconnect the Passenger Power Window Motor connector
Turn the ignition on.
Using a 12-volt test light connect one end to the Passenger Window Down Relay
Output and the other end to the Passenger Window Up Relay Output in the harness
connector.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the PASS WINDOW DN and then the PASS WINDOW
UP.
Did the test light illuminate brightly when the window motor was actuated in both
directions?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Power Window Motor.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 4

Gain access to and disconnect the Passenger Power Window Motor connector
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Passenger Window Up Relay
Output circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the PASS WINDOW UP.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the PASS WINDOW UP circuit is
actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 5
No
→ Go To 12

Gain access to and disconnect the Passenger Power Window Motor connector
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Passenger Window Up
Relay Output circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Go To 6
No
→ Go To 11

Gain access to and disconnect the Passenger Power Window Motor connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Passenger Window Down
Relay Output circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the PASS WINDOW DN..
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the PASS WINDOW DN circuit is
actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 7
No
→ Go To 9

Gain access to and disconnect the Passenger Power Window Motor connector
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Passenger Window Down
Relay Output circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Test Complete.
No
→ Go To 8
