TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR/TRANSMITTER PLUGGED
TPM MODULE FAILURE
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition off.
Note: If there are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) set, the DTC must
be repaired for the result of this test to be valid.
Inspect tire(s) for any signs of leak(s). Check for any foreign objects in the tread or
sidewall, or curb damage, or wheel damage, leaking valve stem, rim leak(s), etc.
Were any air leaks found in the tire?
All
Yes
→ Repair the cause of the air pressure leak.
Perform TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM VERIFICA-
TION TEST.
No
→ Go To 2
2
Turn the ignition off.
With an accurate air pressure gauge, manually check the air pressure of all four tires
for proper air inflation.
Are the tire(s) at the recommended air inflation pressure?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Adjust the tire(s) air pressure to the recommended pressure.
Perform TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM VERIFICA-
TION TEST.
3
Turn the ignition on.
Drive the vehicle above 33 Km/h (20 Mph) for at least two minutes with the DRBIII
t
disconnected.
With the DRBIII
t, read the most recent transmission from each tire. Look for a tire
pressure reading that is below the tire pressure threshold(s). (20 psi for low and 14
psi for critical)
Does the DRBIII
t indicate any tire pressure below the threshold?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Tire Pressure Sensor/Transmitter in accordance with
the Service Information. Remove leak sealant which can plug the
air pressure sense hole.
Perform TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM VERIFICA-
TION TEST.
No
→ Replace and program the Tire Pressure Monitor Module in
accordance with the Service Information.
Perform TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM VERIFICA-
TION TEST.
