Circuit operation
With the ignition switch in "ON" or "START", battery voltage is applied to one side of the backup light switch(MT,
inhibitor switch for AT) through the "METER (10A)" fuse and Y wire. When the shift lever is in reverse position,
battery voltage is applied to the backup lights through P wire. The lights illuminate.

Troubleshooting
Backup lights do not operate.
Preliminary check:
Check an open lamp filament before proceeding with diagnosis. If bulb is damaged, check connection of the
bulb and replace bulb. In addition, check "METER (10A)" fuse. If open, check for short to ground though the
wire, replace fuse and check that all system electrical connectors mated correctly.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Check for voltage at terminal A(Y) of
backup lights switch connector F-07.
Is battery voltage pressent?
Tes
Go to next step
No
Repair open or short in the wire "G/W" or
replace.
2
Set shift lever to REVERSE position.
Check for voltage at terminal B(P) of
backup light switch connector F-07.
Is battery voltage pressent?
Yes
Go to next step
No
Check for a poor connection at backup
light switch connector. If OK, replace
backup light switch.

Connect for voltage at each terminal H(P)
of backup light connector E-13 and E-14.
Is battery voltage pressent respectively?
Yes
Go to next step
No
Check for a poor connection at backup
light switch. if OK, repair open in the wire
"P" or replace.

Connect for continuity between each
terminal F(B) of backup light connector
E-13 and E-14 and ground.
Is battery voltage present?
Yes
Check for a poor connection at backup
lights. If OK, replace backup light bulb.
No
Check for poor connection at ground. If
OK, repair open in the wire "B".
