No.035 Oil existing in the water tank

Malfunction Cause

Solution

Man-made malfunction

Oil enters cooling system during engine repair, and
oil enters water tank along with coolant after the
engine operates to normal water temperature. This
malfunction can be eliminated through replacing
coolant for several times;

Malfunction of cylinder head gasket

Cylinder head gasket is slightly damaged or not
pressed tightly, after the engine starts, oil appears in
the water tank due to oil pressure higher than the
pressure of cooling system which causes oil entering
into cooling system along the damage of cylinder
head gasket. In case of this malfunction ,
disassemble the engine to check cylinder head and
its gasket, cylinder block surface, repair or replace it
and then tighten it in accordance with standard
torque;

Cylinder head or cylinder block deforming

Check whether cylinder head or cylinder block is
deformed, if any, repair or replace it;

There is crack on the cylinder head

There is crack inside oil way of cylinder head, and
the crack is enlarged once heated, therefore oil
enters into cooling system through it. In this case,
check carefully that there is any crank on the cylinder
head, use instrument if necessary, if any, replace it;

There is crack on the cylinder block

There is crack inside oil way of cylinder block, and
the crack is enlarged once heated, therefore oil

malfunction can be eliminated by changing oil;
