RV METER

NOTE: The IG1 signal via the ignition switch is used

when the IG1 signal cannot be received by CAN
communication.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The earth circuit, CAN bus line, the battery circuit or
the ignition switch (ACC, ON) circuit is suspected to
be open or defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the RV meter

• Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

• Malfunction of the CAN bus line

• Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics
Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 2

NO :

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP
54C

− Troubleshooting ). On completion, go

to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is set.
Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES :

Go to Step 3

NO :

Diagnose RV meter (Refer to RV meter,
Troubleshooting

P.54A-462

).

STEP 3. M.U.T-III other system diagnosis code.
Check whether the ETACS-ECU diagnosis code is
set.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES :

Diagnose ETACS-ECU (Refer to ETACS-

ECU, Troubleshooting

P.54A-462

). After

diagnosing the ETACS-ECU, go to Step 4.

NO :

Go to Step 4

STEP 4. Check the following connector: C-171 RV
meter connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 5

NO :

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Measure the resistance at C-171 RV
meter connector.

(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the

(2) Measure the resistance between C-171 RV meter

connector terminal No.14 and body earth

OK: Continuity exists (2

Ω or less)

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 7

NO :

Go to Step 6

STEP 6. Check the harness wire between C-171
RV meter connector terminal No.14 and body
earth.

• Check the earth wires for open circuit.

NOTE: Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check
joint connector C-120 <RHD>, and repair if neces-
sary.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Retest the system.

NO :

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Measure the voltage at C-171 RV meter
connector.

(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the

wiring harness side.

(2) Ignition switch: LOCK (OFF) position

(3) Measure the voltage between C-171 RV meter

connector terminal No.12 and body earth

OK: System voltage

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 9

NO :

Go to Step 8

STEP 8. Check the harness wire between battery
(fusible link No.20) and C-171 RV meter
connector terminal No.12.

NOTE:

Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint
connector C-132, junction block connectors C-209
and C-213, and repair if necessary.

• Check the battery power supply open circuit and

short circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Retest the system.

NO :

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 9. Measure the voltage at C-171 RV meter
connector.

(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the

wiring harness side.

(2) Ignition switch: ACC

(3) Measure the voltage between C-171 RV meter

connector terminal No.11 and body earth

OK: System voltage

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Go to Step 11

NO :

Go to Step 10
