(7) Position the trim welt and staple into place.
(8) Install new butyl patches on the tack strip sup-
port panel to the clip joint for sealing the tub area.
(9) Close and latch the convertible top and check
for fit.
TENSION CABLE
REMOVAL
(1) Remove the header support panel. (Refer to 23
- BODY/CONVERTIBLE TOP/HEADER SUPPORT
PANEL - REMOVAL)
(2) Remove the rivets (two per side) at the bottom
of cover assembly to the linkage.
(3) Remove the tension cable rivet. (Fig. 11)
(4) Remove the upper anchor and guide rivets.
(Fig. 12)
(5) Pull tension cable through the cover assembly
and remove the cable.

TACK STRIP (Continued)
INSTALLATION
(1) Position the cable through the top cover.
(2) Install new upper anchor and guide rivets.
(3) Position the lower anchor and install a new
rivet.
(4) Position the top cover side panel and install a
new rivet.
(5) Install the header support panel. (Refer to 23 -
BODY/CONVERTIBLE
TOP/HEADER
SUPPORT
PANEL - INSTALLATION)
LATCH
REMOVAL
(1) Roll down both door windows.
(2) Unlatch the convertible top.
(3) Remove the 11 screws and remove the seal
compression panel. (Fig. 1)
(4) Remove the screws and remove the latch
assembly. (Fig. 13)
INSTALLATION
(1) Install the latch and install the screws.
(2) Tighten the screws to 9 N·m (80 in. lbs.).
(3) Install the seal compression panel and tighten
the screws to 5 N·m (45 in. lbs.).
(4) Close and latch the convertible top and check
for fit.
HINGE - SIDEARM/LINKAGE
ASSEMBLY
REMOVAL
(1) Remove the bulkhead trim panel. (Refer to 23 -
BODY/INTERIOR/BULKHEAD
TRIM
PANEL

REMOVAL)
(2) Remove the bolts that secure the sidearm/link-
age to the center/3 and rear/4 bows. (Fig. 14)
(3) Remove the two pivot bolts to the header
assembly.
(4) Remove the rivets (two per side) at the bottom
of cover assembly to the sidearm/linkage.
(5) Remove the tension cable rivets.
(6) Remove the bolts and remove the bracket. (Fig.
15)
(7) Remove the lower sidearm/linkage bolts and
remove the sidearm/linkage assembly. (Fig. 16)
INSTALLATION
(1) Insert two wooden dowel rods or equivalent as
alignment pins, into the sidearm/linkage alignment
holes. (Fig. 16)
(2) Install the sidearm/linkage assembly over the
alignment pins and install the lower bolts.
(3) Tighten the bolts to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.).
(4) Install the support bracket and install the
bolts.

(5) Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (9 ft. lbs.).
(6) Position the tension cable through the cover
assembly and replace the rivet.
(7) Position the cover assembly side panel at the
door opening and install new rivets attaching it to
the sidearm/linkage.
(8) Tighten the rear rail bolts to 18 N·m (13 ft.
lbs.).
(9) Tighten the balance link shoulder bolts to 20
N·m (15 ft. lbs.).
(10) Install the center/3 bolts and tighten the bolts
to 5 N·m (45 in. lbs.).
(11) Install the rear/4 bolts and tighten the bolts to
6 N·m (55 in. lbs.).
(12) Install the bulkhead trim panel. (Refer to 23 -

REMOVAL
(1) Open the decklid and support.
(2) Using a small flat bladed tool, or equivalent,
release the upper retaining clips while pulling the
ball socket away from the ball stud. (Fig. 1)
NOTE: Lift the clips only enough to release the ball
studs. (Fig. 2)
(3) Slide the lower plastic retaining clip up. (Fig.
3)
(4) Remove the support cylinder. (Fig. 4)
INSTALLATION
(1) Make sure the upper retaining clip is seated
into the ball socket fully.
(2) Install the support cylinder over the ball studs
with the thin end connected to the body side of the
hinge and the upper retaining clip snapping into
place.
(3) Close lower ball socket retaining clip fully.
HINGE
REMOVAL
(1) Release decklid latch and open decklid.
(2) Support decklid on a suitable prop rod.
(3) Using a grease pencil or equivalent, lightly
mark the outline of the decklid hinge to assist instal-
lation.
(4) Remove rear wheels.
(5) Remove wheel well splash shields.
(6) Remove bolts attaching hinge to trunk pan
from underneath, in wheel well area.
(7) Remove bolts attaching decklid hinge to the
trunk pan. (Fig. 5)
(8) Remove bolts attaching decklid hinge to the
decklid.
(9) Remove hinge.
INSTALLATION
(1) Position decklid hinge on vehicle.
(2) Position any shims retrieved during removal
between the hinge and the trunk pad. Install bolts
attaching hinge to trunk pan and tighten to 28 N·m
(21 ft. lbs.).
