*DRIVER DOOR SWITCH OR SWITCHES INOPERATIVE
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC PRESENT
SELECT SWITCH OR SWITCHES
DRIVER DOOR SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN
DRIVER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN
DRIVER HANDLE SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN

t, read DTC’s.
Does the DRBIII
t display any Driver Door Switch related trouble codes?
All
Yes
→ Refer to symptom list for problems related to POWER DOOR
LOCKS/RKE.
No
→ Go To 2
2
Select the appropriate Drivers Door Switch or Switches that are inoperative.
All
All Switches except Cylinder Unlock
Interior or Exterior Handle Switch
Cylinder Unlock Switch
A defective Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch will set a trouble code.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs and refer to symptom list for
problems related to POWER DOOR LOCKS/RKE.

Disconnect one of the Driver Door Switch connectors.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Driver Door Switch Return
circuit.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to
that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Go To 4
No
→ Go To 7

Disconnect one of the Driver Door Switch connectors.
Measure the voltage between Driver Door Switch Mux circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 5
No
→ Go To 6

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace the body control module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect one of the Driver Door Switch connectors.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Door Switch Mux circuit between the BCM C3
connector and the Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect one of the Driver Door Switch connectors.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Door Switch Return circuit between the BCM
C2 connector and the Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Body Control Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the inoperative Driver Handle Switch connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Driver Door Switch Return
circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Go To 9
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the inoperative Driver Handle Switch connectors.
Measure the voltage of the Driver Door Switch Mux circuit in the Driver Handle
Switch connector.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 10
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace the Driver Handle Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Power Door Lock Switch connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Driver Door Switch Return
circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
All
Yes
→ Go To 12
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Driver Door Lock Switch connectors.
Measure the voltage of the Driver Door Switch Mux circuit.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 13
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace the Driver Door Lock Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No
→ Go To 2

Disconnect the Latch Motor connector.
Connect a 12-volt test light between the Driver Door Unlatch Driver circuit and the
Driver Door Unlatch Return circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the UNLATCH DRIVER DOOR and then actuate
RETURN LATCH.
Did the test light illuminate brightly when the door was actuated?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Latch Motor.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 3

Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Disconnect the Latch Motor connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Door Unlatch Driver circuit between the BCM
C2 connector and the Latch Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Go To 4
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Unlatch Driver circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Disconnect the Latch Motor connector.
Measure the resistance of the Driver Door Unlatch Return circuit between the BCM
C2 connector and the Latch Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Go To 5
No
→ Repair the Driver Door Unlatch Return circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
